I love that I am so open-minded when it comes to food I will eat. I'll try (and likely enjoy) a lot of different foods, even if I don't like mushrooms.

  1. I am thankful for Lauren, who inspired me to blog and encouraged me to publish my articles.

  2. I am thankful for Tara, who inspired me to see that I really can do whatever I want to do with my life!

  3. I am thankful for one more snow day today, even if I'll have to spend vacation days to get any money.

I am proud that I taught myself HTML years ago. I love that I can write code when blogging. There is so much more coding I could / should learn, but I like that I know this basic language.

  1. I am thankful for my friends. I have learned so much from them. I also appreciate their willingness to learn (usually about odd topics) from me.

  2. I am thankful for power through the storm.

  3. I am thankful for work being closed yesterday and today!

Thank you, Byn! I have done this before as a theme for NaBloPoMo, but without the first part.

Each day this month, post (in whatever forum you choose) three things you like about yourself (though on FB I believe she is just doing one) plus three things for which you are thankful. I plan to do this in my online journal and thought I'd share it with you here... since February is a few minutes away!

My Day 1: I have always loved my height. This may sound shallow, but I think 5'8" is perfect... at least for me.

  1. I am thankful for the health of my children.

  2. I am thankful for the support of my husband, no matter how crazy the scheme!

  3. I am thankful for internet community, especially of like-minded moms.

What makes you grateful? And, more importantly, what do you like about yourself?

Okay, at what point does this idea get ridiculous? I had no interest in doing NaNoWriMo. I did NaBloPoMo last year, but failed right away this year. Now there is IComLeavWe? I got an email notice about it from NaBloPoMo.

It isn't big enough to have its own website at least. Anyway, it is about leaving comments to support NaBloPoMo participants that haven't failed yet.

You may recall, I had decided I would give a half-assed effort for the NaBloPoMo this year. I was even talking about it yesterday (Day 1 of NaBloPoMo) at my mom's yesterday. And so this morning I noticed... um, I didn't post. LOL I failed on the first day! Epic fail there, Jorje. Now I *know* I won't be stressing it all month!

Well, November is just around the corner and with it comes the big blogging free-for-all of the "official" National Blog Posting Month. There's no theme for November, so you're free to make it into whatever you want it to be!

That is an excerpt from an email I got from the NaBloPoMo site. I'm only half interested this year... I'm not holding my breath that I'll pull off EVERY day this year. I missed November 29th last year and was fairly disappointed. Considering that I have an infant and will have just returned to work this year, I just don't foresee having much time or attention to give this. I may give it a shot, though.

If you love the idea of NaNoWriMo, but don't have a novel or story lurking in you, give NaBloPoMo a shot!

I wish for a normal, average, regular friggin' pitcher! The stores carry all these fancy looking things with lids that screw on and have a little flip top for pouring. But they all LEAK! So you can't shake the pitcher to mix stuff. And they all have small mouths so you can't reach in with much of anything to stir stuff.

I just want one of those cheapy plastic pitchers like we had when I was a kid. They are wide open on the top (all the way across). The lid just sits in there and it twists to either close, offer a pour slot, or a slotted pour slot. You can fit your hands right into the pitcher for washing the bottom or for stirring. I just want a cheap old pitcher... or two. I try to keep Koolaid on hand so Elmo won't just drink soda and for Veronica, too. It is a nice sneaky way to get water into a person.

So it would be grand if some pitchers arrived here.

And so this concludes my January edition of NaBloPoMo and my wishing. Riiight, I'm sure I'll keep wishing, but not on quite such a structured schedule. lol I hope you haven't hated these entries and they're a great reference for a few people for my upcoming birthday. NaBloPoMo's February theme is Want. I think I was ahead of my time. heh

Today I wish for maternity overalls! They are SOOOO comfy! My mom is supposed to get some for me. In fact, my sister even agreed to try some on for me so I don't HAVE to go shopping with them.

So yeah... I'm looking for maternity and baby hand-me-downs, too. Though I'm in no big rush for baby clothes. I certainly have some time before those will be needed.

Weeeee, we're having a baby! Send baby / maternity stuff here.

Today I wish for plain paraffin wax like you would use for canning. I use it in the wax machine for my hands (or you can use it for feet). I can only seem to find the "Rain scented" and... ick. For one, I hate to pay extra for stink and two... well, it stinks. Paraffin is really cheap. So really, if you spot any in a store, just lemme know where you found it! That would work.

My wish for yesterday (evening, anyway) was bananas. Let me back up a little...

Monday night I got sick, really sick. So sick that it got me out of bed. So sick that I finally woke Elmo at 1:00 to take me to the ER. I am suffering from Viral Gastritis. I had lost all my dinner and most of my fluids. I became dehydrated.

So we went, on treacherous roads, to the local ER where I was given saline, something for nausea, and a GI Cocktail to help confirm that it was GI related. The cocktail was pretty damned nasty. The nurse was funny, though. He said he was going to give me something nasty to drink and if I didn't keep it down for at least 15 minutes, he was going to make me drink another one. I've actually had one once before, after Veronica was born. I got heartburn really really bad and they couldn't figure out what it was. They gave me the GI Cocktail then. They sent me home, telling me it was either food poisoning or heartburn. Not what you want to hear when you're a nursing mother!

So... here we are just over 24 hours from leaving the hospital and I still haven't eaten anything solid. I doze and Elmo wakes me every once in awhile to have a drink. He is taking very good care of me. I managed to sleep through the night, though (went to bed at 6:30)... only waking for drinks of water, which I kept next to the bed. I have drank some warm jello. I know it sounds gross, but trust me, it is a wonderful thing! This morning I plan to try something solid. Wish me luck! This is my second missed day at work, at a time when they are already missing a lot of people due to the weather. They are understanding, though. At least I didn't have to keep Elmo home from work today, though he would much rather be here taking care of me.

So yeah, bananas have sounded great for a solid to try first. Looks like it is going to be ramen or toast. Feel free to make bananas magically appear on my kitchen counter, preferably intact. lol

I wish to be hydrated.

I know I've already wished for a lot of kitchen stuff, but... Today I guess I wish for a slightly smaller skillet that is still deep enough for Hamburger Helper and such. My current skillet is great, but worn out and is 12 inches across. I haven't been able to find a lid to fit it, so I usually use a cookie sheet, but it isn't big enough to fully cover the skillet, either.

So... yeah, more cookware. Cookware and kitchen stuff welcome here.

Today I wish for a scarf. I didn't take ANY from the pile o' scarves when I moved out and with the weather lately... I would really love to have a scarf! I don't really care what color (though black does go with everything) or style. It could be knitted, crocheted, polar fleece... I just don't want alpaca! I had one and egad it was some itchy shit!

I did make it by my dad's place today and got my package! I would like to (officially) thank [livejournal.com profile] fizzygeek and [livejournal.com profile] madbodger for sending me Mardi Gras beads! I wished for them on Day 8. They were rolled up so carefully, so as not to tangle in the mail. I love them and they will come in so very handy! Thank you so much!!

Scarves would be well-received here.

Today I wish my van were running. It starts, but it won't stay running. It seems to be an air intake problem. My lovely, wonderful, generous friend came by and took a look, but it is beyond his scope due to electronic parts. He is going to ask his dad today about possibly helping me. I don't know what I'd do without good friends! So... hopefully this wish will come true by sundown or at least Sunday night. We had to ride the bike to work this morning. Consider... it's 40°, no wind (that helps), no sun (that doesn't help), and Elmo has no coat. Sheesh. Thankfully I had chaps to wear. We bundled up and I tried to get there as quickly (and safely) as we could. One of my managers was kind enough to loan me his car for lunch break, but I'll be fine riding home at the end of the day.

Ah, just got an update. My awesome friend is bringing his apparently also awesome dad over this afternoon to gawk at my van... though they still don't know that they'll be able to do much. His dad is afraid it could be the fuel pump, which would be a PITA.

I wish for a simpler fix than that!!
msjorje: (red03b)
OMG! Okay, so... I have the address I link in my wish list posts. I have also given out another address to a couple of people. It is what I would consider my "permanent address" and a really safe place to accept packages. I have been hesitant to hand out my HOME address to people, plus it is an apartment - not the safest place to have packages left on the porch and not very permanent.

ANYway, my dad called me today to let me know that I have another box! (He says another because I've received one letter and one package there recently.) Sooo... I'm SO excited to find out what someone sent me! Also, I'm pretty positive I know who sent it, too! I won't say til I get it, though. I am going to drive out there tomorrow to get it... assuming I can now get my van running again. Heck, if not, I may have to have my dad come look at it and he can bring the package to me! heehee

And SOOO my wish for today is that my "shipper" could / would come to Tulsa to visit me in February! That would be sooo uber kewl!

I did look at a pink toe tarantula today... but am not ready to figure out an arboreal habitat. Otherwise, I'd be all over that!

I would absolutely LOVE to have any of the items from the RedHot project! I would like to have a legal copy of Red Hot + Blue, which I believe may have been their first project. I love the album. I have faith that all of their projects are great. The other ones certainly look like they would be great, too.

CDs and other materials would be welcomed here.

Today I wish for some cool hi top Chuck Taylor Converse shoes (Chucks). I've looked around their site some and I only like a couple of their double upper ones. I looked at their clearance store, too. Their site is too complex, it doesn't work very well. I'd so love to even have some used ones, already broken in and with some cool fabric. I love the plaid and really anything a little outrageous. I wear a women's size 9. The site says to subtract 2 for women (so a size 7).

There used to be a guy at work that collected Chucks. He was wearing them to work and we were giving him a hard time because they aren't safe or acceptable for our workplace. He was planning to buy some work boots... I don't know if he ever did.

Oh man, I see crossword, tie dye, skulls... green is my favorite color and I don't really wear pink... though if I was going to, a Chuck or a Cowboy Boot would be where I'd wear it! There's one with a diner menu all over it! I even love the solid green or black ones. They have some with sudoku on them! (I don't want that one.) They don't call them that, though.

This is purely frivolous considering I can't wear them to work, but I do love the style and haven't had any Chucks in many many years. And jeez, the more I look... some of those double uppers are kinda cool. And they make more sense for winter wear. Hrm. Oh, the design your own thing is very cool! Alright... enough already. Need to close this post. I have shit to do... (besides daydream).

Please send stinky old beat up (or not so stinky or beat up) converses to me here.
msjorje: (red02)
Today I wish you would take me to lunch (sometime).

I wish to have lunch with you at Fuji. I wish to have lunch with you at Brookside Thai. I wish to have lunch with you at Sushi Train. I wish to have lunch with you at Bogey's. I wish to have brunch with you at a diner. I wish to have lunch with you at some place you like that I've never tried.

Meals are good. Time with friends is also very good. No shipping address necessary here. Just email me to set a date to take me out to lunch! If'n you're interested.

I was thinking about the camera thing today. I think a pocket camera would be good, too... rather than having to have one that would take lenses. I just want a good new (to me, in good condition) camera. Really.

Cameras welcome here.
msjorje: (tired)
I wish for a set of cake pans. I would like round ones for making layer cakes and maybe a long glass one that you can also use for lasagna and the like.

They may happen upon me here.
