Sasha Communication

msjorjeI'm not sure I like how I put that one together. So, here I will list the words, as they come to mind. This should be a more indicative list of the words Sasha likes to use and uses often, for fun or for desires.
There is some behavior stuff in here, too. Don't feel like you have to read this, this is mostly for me.
BATH! - She signs and says BA. She loves the bath and will ask for one at least once per day, sometimes twice. I try to give her a bath when she requests it, but only once per day.
HI! - She signs and says HI clearly.
CHEESE - She always signs cheese and says CHEE when she wants me to open the fridge. She sometimes wants cheese, but sometimes she just wants to play in the fridge or look for something to eat.
HOT - She clearly signs hot and almost says the entire word. She definitely has the HO down. This word is most often used when I am cooking. She loves to help me cook. I try to find little tasks she can actually do, such as dropping cheese or pasta into a pan.
COLD - She has fun with this sign, but doesn't speak for it. She likes to clench her teeth and sometimes shiver her entire body when she signs COLD.
BABY - She signs and says BAY-BEE very clearly.
ELMO - Sasha very clearly says EH-MO and is even starting to say a W sound for World.
DADDY - Sasha signs toward the back of her head, rather than her forehead, and says "DAYEE!"
MOMMY - Sasha signs MOM when asked or when she really wants me. She says MAH and is finally starting to say MOMMA.
SISTER - Sasha signs this one, she doesn't say it. In fact, she calls out to Tyler as "DAH!" which is what she calls out for most people.
HI / BYE - Sasha clearly signs and says these words.
APPLE - Sasha does most face signs toward the back of her head, but I still understand her. She also says "APPUH."
CRACKER - She signs this one, but doesn't attempt to say it.
COOKIE - She signs this one, but doesn't generally say anything with it.
STOP / GO - she can sign both of these clearly.
GRANDMA / GRANDPA - Sasha signs both of these. However, she always signs Grandpa first, even if you say Grandma. She will also sign Daddy first even if you say Mommy.
THANK YOU - Sasha says a short word that sounds similar to THANKS, but isn't really discernible. I can tell what she is saying because of the situations in which she uses it and the appreciative, sweet head-cocked look she gives when she says it. She signs THANK YOU when she thinks we all (generally Tyler & I) should say it.
COLORS - Sasha's use of this sign has more to do with the verb, though we learned it as a noun on Signing Time. I'm working on the colors with her, but most are based on letters, so I don't have high expectations there yet. She only colors in her high chair. She can have 2 crayons at a time. She seems to prefer Green and Orange.
MORE - Very clearly signed often and accompanied by a verbal "MOE"
MILK - Sasha says "MIL" and signs by tapping on my chest for breastmilk. She has only tapped on her own chest a couple of times when she was trying to communicate this request. She also says MIL and signs properly for cow milk.
HAND - Sasha says "HAN" while holding out her hand when she wants our hand. This generally mean she wants us to follow her somewhere or she wants us to help her stand up. Sometimes she only holds out a single finger for this and will hold onto us with the finger. Other times, once we start to follow her, she doesn't actually want our hand. She just wants us to follow her.
SIGNING TIME - Sasha can sign to request this show. She hasn't done it lately, though.
BLUE'S CLUES - She has a sign for this, though it isn't ASL. She just signs it the way the guy in the show does.
WATER - Sasha signs clearly for this, though not properly. Her fingers are flat to her face. She understands that water is in her glass as well as in the shower, though she mostly associates it with drinking, even in the shower.
DRINK - She will clearly sign drink when requesting a drink of anything. All she drinks is water and milk, generally.
BANANA - She signs this fairly clearly, we understand her.
SOCKS - She will sign and say "SOH" generally while dragging me to her sock drawer. She is used to wearing socks all the time (at the doctor's suggestion, that is another story) so she requests them. She can also be picky about which socks she would like to wear. Her version of the sign might not be recognized by outsiders, but I know what she means.
STARS - When asked, she signs this pretty well. It is the same sign as socks, just pointed up instead of down.
SHOES - She will request shoes sometimes. This may mean that she wants to go somewhere or just that she wants her slippers. If her boots are out, she wants to wear them just because she likes to wear them. I don't generally leave her boots out, but her slippers are always available.
YES / NO - she knows how to sign these, but generally just shakes her head one way or the other. She also says "MOE" for No. She seems to really appreciate this communication. It has been very helpful! When she wants something, I can guess and she can tell me if I'm right. I'm not usually right on the first guess!
BOOK - she likes books. She can sign book clearly and say "BUH"
BOAT - She can sign boat correctly, but the word sounds about the same as book. The signs are actually a little similar as well, but the difference is clear.
FISH - she signs this clearly and says a word that sounds a little like fish. *I* can tell what she is saying, but then again she is signing it at the same time!
DOG - She loves dogs, signs DOG clearly, and says "DAW."
CAT - She loves cats possibly more than dogs, she signs CAT clearly, though she does it toward the back of her head just like other face signs. She also says "KAH."
Sasha loves Elmo's World more than anything else I let her watch. She also enjoys Signing Time. She likes Blue's Clues, which we sometimes watch together late at night. She likes Little Shop of Horrors and our latest discovery together is The Labyrinth. She needs Mommy close-by for this one, though. She likes to snuggle during parts of it. We watch it together sometimes. She likes Fraggle Rock, but not so much that she has a way to request it.
I'm sure I'm leaving signs and words out, but that is enough for now! Those are the ones that came to mind.
